Objectives of the Training:
* Develop an accurate mental model of generational poverty and explore the impact of poverty on those living in it
* Review research on the causes of poverty
* Explore the hidden rules of economic class
* Examine the impact of poverty on family structure
* Identify ways in which the information can be used to improve relationships and outcomes at individual, organizational, and community levels

The Campaign for Children Committee is a group comproised of women from the Northfield United Methodist Church. Operation Backpack is a back-to-school program that furnishes new backpacks and school supplies for all children entering kindergarten through Grade 12 whose households are certified to use the program services of the Northfield Community Action Center. These women seek out help in the form of monetary donatioons and supplies from a wide spectrum of individuals, business and churches throughout Northfield. Sending children off to school with a shiney new backpack filled with all the supplies they are expected to bring has an impact on the success a child has in and out of the classroom.

The committee accepts monetary donations. Checks may be sent to Operation Backpack in care of Jean DeLong at 1002 S Spring Street, Northfield, MN 55057.
